Creating Roman Numerals and Text from Numbers in Word
Word has two mathematical functions that can come in handy:
converting a numeric entry (such as 1234) to Roman Numerals
converting a monetary entry (such as $1234.56) to a text equivalent
In order to change a number, such as 1234, to a Roman Numeral follow these steps:
In Word press CTRL-F9 to display a pair of bold curly brackets { }
Between the brackets type {=1234\*Roman}
Right click on the item and select Update Field
MCCXXXIV will be displayed
If you want to edit the field right click on it again and select Toggle Field
You can convert a number to words using a similar function. This would be useful if you were using Word to write checks as it would generate the written out version of a monetary amount.
Use CTRL-F9 to display the brackets
Between them type {=123,456.78\*DollarText}
one hundred twenty-three thousand four hundred fifty-six and 78/100 will be displayed
In order to capitalize the first letter modify the code so that it reads
{ =123,456.78\*DollarText \*firstcap}
One hundred twenty-three thousand four hundred fifty-six and 78/100 will be displayed
