The ongoing tale of Big Boy continues.
Thanks to a Cousin, who is an
Archaeologist in Ogden Utah, I have
photos of 4014 at the Union Pacific's
Ogden passenger station.
In these photos, it appears that
the massive main rods have been removed
to remove problems from air being pumped
into the cylinders as the engine is moved.
Something which is to me amazing
and a tribute to the Union Pacific
Police is the American Locomotive Co.
builders plate attached to the smoke box and not in some railfan's
game room. The plate shows serial #
69--- and a build date of Sept. 1941!!
Although not G scale or about
trains in the garden, I have finished a
book titled " I never met a train I
didn't like" by Lou Palumbo. Lou owns the
Underground Railroad Shoppe in New
Castle Pa. His observations on the hobby
are both the subject of laughter and
pretty much right on !
Copies are available from the store.
