The Dining Car

This Recipe is from My Old Kentucky Dinner Train proved so popular that it is printed up on cards to be picked up by passenger departing the train

Hearty Croutons

Before you begin you’ll need: small pan, small bowl, large bowl, cookie press

Preheat oven to 350F                               Cook: 10-15 minutes

Prep: 10 minutes                                        Yield: 4cups

Ingredients

3 Tbsp. garlic salt                                        ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper

1 tsp. celery seed                                       ¼ cup butter, melted

2 Tbsp. basil, chopped fine                      1 loaf French or Italian bread

1 Tbsp. parsley flakes                                coarsely broken into ½” pieces

2 tsp. oregano

½ tsp. black pepper

In a small bowl, combine the first seven (dry) ingredients and mix. In a small pan over medium heat, melt butter, place bread pieces in a large bowl, drizzle butter over, and toss to coat. Continue tossing lightly and sprinkle with dry ingredients. Spread the pieces on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 F until brown and crisp, about 10 to 15 minutes
