Winter Greenberg Show

The Winter Greenberg Train Show schedule has arrived and many will be pleased to know that it will again return to the Monroeville area.

IT WILL NOT BE IN THE FORMER EXPO MART BUILDING THAT WE ARE ALL FAMILIAR WITH , BUT IN THE MONROEVILLE CONVENTION CENTER, 135 MALL BOULEVARD, MONROEVILLE, PA.

The dates of the shows are as follows:

  • Sat. & Sun.  11/14-15/2009
  • Sat. & Sun.  02/13-14/2010

As always, the shows will run both days from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with early set up on Friday.  More details will follow as dates get nearer.

The Greenberg people cordially recognize our PGRS name badges in lieu of exhibitor badges.  Technically, this courtesy is extended to members in return for setting up and operating the exhibit, although no one is held strictly accountable if they contribute to the exhibit or not.

It is appreciated that enough members show up through the entire weekend to set up, tear down and just as importantly, engage train show attendees who are not familiar with our club as well as provide a good showing of the cross/section of our members (men, women, husbands, wives, children, young adults, gardeners, etc.

We will continue to encourage show attendance to assist in any one of these areas for as much or as little time as a member chooses; it is a 'perk' of club membership.

In an effort to foster more involvement on the part of clubs like ours as well as novice train show attendees, Greenberg Shows have changed the workshop/seminar honorarium schedule.  Under the old schedule, $25.00 was the total maximum amount that would be paid out regardless of the number of workshops or topics presented. The new rules will allow a maximum of $45.00 /weekend; this will consist of $15.00/ each Sat and Sun topic covered.  A topic might take 20 or 40 minutes on Saturday and repeat that same 20 or 40 minutes on Sunday.  Examples of topics include scenery, loco repair, layout wiring, bridge construction, module design, modeling water or gondola loads, what might appeal to a hobbyist?!

Greenberg Principals, Randy Bachmann and Frank Hicks have an even keener interest than most in promoting the hobby that we all know and love, as these shows are their livelihood.  These rules are not set in stone, rather general guidelines to go by.  Randy and Frank are open to ideas that will further the interest and excitement this great hobby has to offer.  If any member has a passion or idea for presentation, please don't be shy!
